John Milton was born December 9, 1608 in London. His father was a musical composer, and his mother was a scribe. Milton grew up privileged with the quality education. He was argumentative, hardworking, and a talented student. He studied numerous languages and eventually graduated from Christ's College, Cambridge. After graduating, Milton retired to several homes that belonged to his family and began writing. His knowledge of Latin and Greek greatly affected his ability to write poetry. His most famous work Paradise Lost was published in 1667. Milton died on November 8,1674, and is known as one of the greatest British writers in history.
